Williams Elementary-Middle School’s Preschool has received its first Quality First rating, and we are very pleased to announce that we’ve received 4 stars! Quality First is an organization that works with childcare and preschool providers across Arizona to improve the quality of their early learning settings. Quality First preschools are evaluated on several items, including: health and safety practices, staff qualifications, teacher-child interactions, quality learning environments, high quality lesson delivery, safe adult-student ratios, child assessment, and parent communication.
Programs are given a star rating based on what current research indicates are key components of quality early childhood education. Preschools that receive a star rating above 3 stars are rewarded with an ability to offer scholarships to families that meet certain income requirements. Since Williams Unified already offers its preschool free-of-charge to its students, this scholarship money will help defray the costs of running the program. WEMS is extremely proud to announce that our first official star rating is 4 stars! A four-star rating allows us to continue our efforts to offer high quality preschool to all children.
