Good afternoon WHS parents and guardians!
Homecoming season has officially kicked off with a pep assembly this morning. Class colors and themes were chosen by the students. The schedule of events for Homecoming is as follows:
Monday Sept. 23-Thursday, Sept. 26 - Float Building from 5-7 p.m. Seniors will have the Rodeo Barn, Juniors will have the Bus Barn, and Sophomores and Freshmen will share the welding/auto workshops on campus.
Monday, Sept. 23 - Hallway Decorating, morning only. Students need to bring items to school to decorate their hallway. Class colors are: Pink for seniors; purple for juniors; blue for sophomores; and red for freshmen.
Thursday, Sept. 26 - Homecoming activities such as Powder Puff in the morning; early dismissal at 12:30 p.m. The parade will begin at WHS and go through downtown on Route 66 beginning at 1 p.m. Varsity Football will play Hayden at 7 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 27 - Bonfire is at the rodeo grounds from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 28 - Homecoming Dance in the Viking Grill from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
A reminder for dress-up days, all daily themes must still meet school dress code expectations. In addition, students may not bring any props that are not school appropriate, including size. If it cannot easily fit in a standard backpack, it is too big.
The WUSD # 2 Governing Board would like to remind you of the governing board meeting taking place tonight at 6 pm. Board meeting locations have changed. They now take place in the WEMS Parenteau Auditorium. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
Thank you first responders! WEMS and WHS took time to remember those that lost their lives on 9/11, 23 years ago. We appreciate all you do for our community first responders!
We wanted to share our kinder experience with you. Danielle arranged for Fire Chief Chase Pearson to read a story to us. The students played a letter recognition (firefighter/hose and fire) game, they were able to look at books and take a tour.
It’s amazing when it all aligns with what we are learning in class. This week was community helpers and first responders (Patriots Day). Also the real connection from our story we read a couple weeks ago made things a real learning experience. We plan on going back and checking out books.

Beginning in October, meetings will be moved to a new date & time in order to better meet the needs of our stakeholders who serve on this council.
WHS Site Based Council will now hold meetings the second Tuesday of each month at 11:15 am in the WHS library. Thank you.

Williams High School Soccer team will be traveling to play the Ash Fork Spartans today at 3 at Ash Fork JUSD.
Our first home game will be tomorrow at the WEMS soccer pitch at 3 to take on the Grand Canyon Phantoms.

Greetings WUSD # 2 Community Members: On Wed. Aug. 28th, from 5-6 pm, Bruce Salmon from Shaw Sports Turf will be here in the WEMS Auditorium for a Q & A regarding our WIFA Ball Fields Project. The WHS Football Field is Legion Pro turf and our Baseball and Softball Fields will be B1K True Hop turf. We began excavating work on the baseball field today.

Come out and support the Middle Soccer Team! Their first home game is Saturday, Sept. 7th.
The football field is coming along beautifully. The new Vikings Field is a joint project between WIFA and WUSD2. Without the water conservation funding provided by WIFA, this project would not be possible. We have several outstanding partners on this project that we will be highlighting as the project progresses.
Next week L.P. Excavating will begin work on the baseball field.
Viking players should be able to practice on their new field after Friday's away game.
The first home game of the season and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on September 6th, details coming soon.
Register your girl for Girls on the Run this fall!
Over 200 girls at 27 GOTR teams across Northern Arizona are ready to learn, grow, make friends, and move this Fall 2024 season! Will your girl join them? Teams are filling up on teams across Northern Arizona but there is still time to register your girl for most of our teams! Our program utilizes a research-based curriculum that inspires confidence in 3rd-8th grade girls through:
Fun, physical movement-based activities
Thoughtful group discussions that teach social-emotional skills
Setting goals in preparation for a celebratory 5K event
At Girls on the Run, we focus on the whole girl. Unlike other extracurricular clubs or organized sports, our program empowers girls’ minds, bodies and souls. Make this fall the season your girl became her own hero!
Join us for a 10-week, 20 lesson Girls on the Run season starting next week from August 26-November 8. Generous and automatic financial aid available. We hope to see your girl this fall at Girls on the Run!

We are excited to see our beloved high school football field turn green again. There will be many changes during the coming week and we will continue to post updated photos of its progress.
We will also be sharing information and data about the Shaw Turf products being installed on our fields and what other Shaw Sports Turf customers have to say about their fields.
Williams High School Junior Varsity football team will be traveling to Bullhead City on Saturday (8-24-2024) to take on the Mustangs of Needles, CA. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 P.M.
The game will be played at "Anderson Auto Group Fieldhouse", which is located at 3663 Bullhead Parkway in Bullhead City. Tickets will be purchased through Hometown Tickets.com.
