This week, 9th grade PE with Ms. Durn z worked on their basketball skill, ending with a rousing game of musical basketball. There was great, positive communication between the teacher and students, and students and their peers with encouragement and night competition. Near the end of class, Mrs. Mitkowski's 11th grade ELA class came in to use the sights, sounds, and smells of the gym in their descriptive writing assignment. Great engagement and real-world application of skills for all involved.

The sophomores today in Mrs. Gutshall's ELA class had a brief brain break today to decrease any stress and anxiety they brought to class with them. The quick, 30 second acitivites brought laughs as well as moved stufents out of an over-thinkint cycle. A great use of transition moments between learning activities.

Our senior class has begun their Participatory Budgeting Legacy Project. In collaboration with Arizona State University’s Center for the Future of Arizona, the students will research and select projects that are within a budget of $1000. They will then promote the projects to the school, who with then vote on the preferred project, and finally follow the selected project through to completion. These projects improve student agency, collaboration, and critical-thinking while preparing them to be actively engage in their civic life outside of school. The project also encourages the entire student population to engage civically as the process follows municipal Participatory Budgeting models and students will go through the entire voting process from registering to final decision on how part of a public budget will be spent. Thank you to Mrs. Mitkowski, our Government and Economics teacher, for spearheading the great real-world application of civic participation for our students.

Greetings WUSD 2 Families & Staff: It's hard to believe with it being 60 degrees and sunny outside, that winter, ice, snow, road closures, school closures, etc might be in our near future. Last winter was historic.

Hello WHS Community,
Our November fire drill has been successfully completed.
We have a NED Mindset school assembly for grades K-6 on Thursday, November 16th. The NED show talks with students about ways they can have a growth mindset and uses yo-yos as a tool for helping to develop a growth mindset. The assembly is free to our school as part of a pay-it-forward program. Yo-Yo’s will be for sale leading up to the assembly, on Thursday 11/16 after school in the long hallway or available at all student lunches the week after Thanksgiving. Pricing sheets will be sent home this week, and on the live feed is the link to order your yo-yo online. All money raised will provide for another school to get to have this assembly at their school for no cost, just like we did. What a great way to show our gratitude! Pay-it-Forward! Special thanks to our PTSA for all their help with this.
