Hello WHS families! A reminder that tomorrow, 10/20/22 is parent/teacher conferences from 2-6pm. It is a half day with dismissal at 12:30. Busses will run at the regular 3:40 time.

Good evening families. This is a reminder for those students participating in the Senior-Freshmen Team building trip tomorrow to wear good active shoes as well as appropriate wear for the weather. We will be collecting for a pizza lunch. We are looking forward to the trip! Thanks.

Greetings WUSD # 2 Families & Community Members, We are pleased to announce that the process of filling our vacant WUSD # 2 Governing Board seat has reached its conclusion. A committee interviewed both candidates. The County School Superintendent will swear in Mr. Steve Auld as our newest Governing Board Member, filling the seat vacated by long-time member Herman Nixon. This is scheduled to take place on Oct 18. Once Mr. Auld is official with the County Superintendent’s Office, he will take the oath and then take his seat on the Board. Please help us in congratulating and welcoming Mr. Auld to the WUSD # 2 Family.

Hello WHS Community! The high school is on a regular schedule today. Parent/teacher conferences are at WEMS only today. A reminder that the high school will be having parent/teacher conferences next Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 2:00pm-6:00pm. Student will have a half day, ending at 12:30. Busses will run at the regular time, 3:40.

Good Evening families! This is a reminder that permission slips for our upcoming Freshman-Senior Team-building field trip are DUE TOMORROW, Thursday Oct 13. Any student that does not have their permission slip in by tomorrow will NOT be allowed to go on the field trip Monday. Thank you!

Greetings WUSD # 2: We have recently partnered with KPHO (Channel 3 and 5 in Phoenix) to be added to their school closures and delays list. You can now tune in to these stations to learn of any WUSD # 2 school delays or closures, as we approach the upcoming wintry season.

Any student in the 10th and 11th grade who is taking the PSAT tomorrow must arrive early to school. Since tomorrow is also picture day any student taking the PSAT who wants to get their picture taken should be at the high school no later than 7:30am.

Thursday October 13 WEMS invites you attend Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences from 1:30-6:30 PM. K-6 teachers will be in their rooms, 7th & 8th grade teachers will meet with you in the gym. Students will be released at 12:45 that day. There will be no Falcon Flyers on Thursday Oct 13. At conferences we will have our Fall Parent Survey available. We will also be asking families to update their contact information to help us ensure effective communication.

Greetings: We are aware of the significant weather event in Junipine Estates north of town off 64 near Espee and Buck Ridge. We have toured the area, spoke with CCSO, and are good to go with bringing students home. We will have two drivers on the bus. The roads are closed to residents only and our buses. Power is being restored as we speak with APS. WUSD is working with the Red Cross to establish shelters for those displaced. Our focus this afternoon is getting all students/staff home safe.If you live in Junipine Estates area, we are releasing students to their parents. All students without an adult pickup will be brought back to school for pickup. This is to ensure everyone’s safety.

WHS is excited to announce that we will honor our senior football players and cheerleaders this coming Friday at the football game vs. Mogollon. We are asking for all to show up early to the game by 6 pm, we will honor our senior football players before the game at 6:15. We are very proud of these seniors and hope they get the recognition they deserve before the game starts. Please show up early to recognize this senior group of football players. The cheerleaders will be recognized at halftime after their performance. Thanks and hope to see everyone here this Friday at 6:15.

Good Afternoon WHS Community! One of our community partners, Calvary Chapel Williams, is inviting high school students to a youth rally on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Miss Kitty's Steakhouse (642 E. Route 66) on Friday, October 7th, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 PM. There will be live music and guest speaker Monty Huston with working dogs, Lilly, Sheba the wolf, and Ruger who completed 166 missions in Afghanistan. There will be door prizes including gift certificates at local restaurants and 2 tickets on the Grand Canyon Railroad. If you are interested, please let Dr. Hargis at WHS know so they can have a basic head count for food.

The investigation has concluded. No weapon was discovered. The SECURE has been lifted. WEMS is back to business as usual. Thank you everyone for your patience and diligence during this time.
