Hi all! Remember this is homework Monday. Hardcopy assignments are being distributed with meals at the 4 sites: WEMS, Parks, Valle, and 64Shell.
WEMS is partnering with you to ensure your child continues learning during the school closure. New weekly paper learning packets will continue to be available for pick-up at meal sites every Monday. Starting this Thursday, paper packets can be turned in at meal sites every Thursday. Work submitted cannnot hurt a child's 2nd semester grade, but can definitely improve it! So, turn that work in! Online learning continues through Google Classroom and other platforms. Google Classroom access codes vary by teacher and grade, so contact your teacher or the school for more information. Also, every teacher will soon be starting weekly office hours. This could look different depending upon the grade level. It might be a show and tell, an interactive lesson, a science experiment demo, or a Q & A for students and parents on how to do some of that challenging schoolwork! Hello Eighth Grade Students and Families. COVID-19 has certainly thrown our eighth graders' final year of middle school into a bit of a tailspin. Despite this, please know that all of the teachers and staff at WEMS are very proud of this eighth grade class--The WHS Class of 2024! These eighth graders have been hard workers and strong leaders in our school. We look forward to celebrating each and every one of them at a proper promotion ceremony. Although we cannot set a date yet, we promise that the Class of 2024 WILL have a wonderful Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony!
Greetings WHS Seniors & Parents/Guardians of WHS Seniors: The last few weeks have presented some very uncertain & uneasy times for folks all over the country & all over the world. Schools, sports seasons & events cancelled all over the world. Public gatherings limited to 10 or less people, 6 feet apart, etc. Certainly anxious times.
During these uncertain times, it is nice once in a while to get some news that is certain.
Our promise to our Senior Class of 2020 is:
At some point, when conditions allow, WHS WILL hold a Commencement/Graduation Ceremony of some kind. We don't know when, or how yet, but our commitment to our Seniors tonight, is that WHS WILL find a way to celebrate this wonderful, lifelong accomplishment.

Greetings and Good Morning WHS. Some good questions have been coming in about Q3/Q4. The opportunity to raise your Q3 grade can only help you. It cannot hurt your Q3/S2 grades. There are no Q4 grades this year. This opportunity for Q3 is also voluntary. I strongly encourage ALL students to take advantage of this opportunity. Some could go from an F to a passing grade and get credit, others might want to raise a B to an A. Please work with your teachers. Thank you!

Hi Falcon Families! In place of our Annual Literacy Night this year, we'll be giving away new or gently-used books to everyone at our meal pick-up sites tomorrow. During this Distance Learning Opportunity time, all WHS students will have an opportunity to reach out to their teacher(s) to express their desire to raise their Q3 grade(s). Individual students will work out a plan/agreement to move forward during the closure to improve their Q3 grade(s). Students MUST must be the ones to reach out.
Why improve Q3 grade(s)? This will be how WHS determines credit for semester 2 and because students did not have a chance to do so in the 4th quarter.

WEMS teachers have online learning opportunities ready to go and are contacting families via text and/or phone to explain how to access them. Greetings WHS Families: I hope this finds each of you well. Starting tomorrow (3/30/20), all WHS students will be able to access online educational opportunities via Google Classroom. For those that need to, hard copies (packets) are available at each WUSD food service location. Simply request a packet by teacher name when arriving at a WUSD food service station. Teachers will NOT be grading work at this time. Packets should NOT be returned. Google Hangouts, Google Classroom, Khan Academy, Zoom, & Rosetta Stone are WHS's preferred online apps/sites. This is a reminder to all seniors. You have to have your scholarship applications sent digitally to Mr. Powers at jpowers@wusd2.org by Tuesday March 31st at 3pm in order to be considered for the scholarships you wish to apply for. Please send each application separately as he will have to get these out to each individual sponsor in good time. Either scan them with a printer or use your phone’s camera with Adobe Scan App to attach them to an email. If you are having issues with doing this please contact Mr. Powers at the above email.
