WHS SENIORS! Please read the message below re: Local Scholarships. Thank you! This message is for seniors who have local scholarship applications to turn in. There will be a new way for you to turn those in to the school and thus an extension of the due date for these to be in. You now have until Tuesday March 31st at 3:00 pm for us to receive these applications digitally. There will be no exceptions to this deadline. The applications should be sent to jpowers@wusd2.org (Mr. Powers). You can scan them and email them to me. I have been told that you can also scan them using your phone’s camera through the Adobe Scan app (free). I suggest you put a read and delivery receipt on your emails so you know Mr. Powers has read it and a follow up email would be a good idea too. Please send each application separately (different attachments in the same email titled with the sponsors name/organization of the scholarship). Do NOT send all applications in one single scan. If you do not have the ability to send these digitally, please contact Mr. Powers by email before the day of the deadline. Mr. Powers

Greetings WHS Families: During this time of uncertainty & uneasiness, we want to make sure, in addition to providing educational opportunity for WHS students, that we also have a way to share & remind folks of resources in our area for emotional/mental health & support. An email will be out shortly with some links to services, including ways to contact Mr. Powers, our school counselor, if needed. Be Well. We are thinking of all of you. The WHS Team

Greetings WHS Families and Student Athletes: Please see the message below from the AIA: Arizona Governor Doug Ducey recently announced that all statewide schools will be closed through Friday, April 10. With this directive, the AIA and its Executive Board must abide by this decision and require that all AIA member schools not partake in interscholastic competition until further notified. The spring sports championships are still not cancelled at this point. However, discussions for the administration of any postseason tournaments will not take place until after schools are back in session. The AIA will continue to monitor the communications from the governor’s office and make decisions accordingly. In the meantime, we want all of our student-athletes, coaches and teachers to stay safe and follow all health department advisories.

Hello Falcon Families, We hope you are healthy, calm, and safe during this challenging time. Despite it officially being Spring Break, we know that our families are eager for guidance from their school. Our district leadership is actively working on a plan for meal distribution and for continuing your child's education during this school closure. Please be on the lookout for more specific information about that plan soon. Until then, we all know that children can be calmed by structure and routines. So, we encourage you to set aside time for reading and learning each day. Some of this learning can be real-world learning such as sewing a button, reading a billing statement together, or doing the laundry and cooking. It can also be free online learning through a cell phone, tablet, or computer. We will send a separate message to you today with some specific educational sites and apps. Finally, here's a link to some good ways to talk to your child about COVID-19: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/10-tips-for-talking-about-covid-19-with-your-kids WEMS is committed to your child's learning and overall well-being. The best to you and your family! WEMS Staff

Community meeting this morning: Safeway stays open, WPD still operates, City stays open, Emergency services still operate. People are available to help. If you are in dire need of daycare, call the schools and we will try to help with solutions. Teens may be able to help.

WUSD will be distributing meals starting next week. We will have pickup at WEMS and deliveries to outlying areas. Stay tuned for more details. The U.S. is now recommending limiting gatherings to 10 or fewer and stay 6ft away from others. "Mind the gap" but be a good neighbor.
