Good morning WEMS families and community! Earlier today, we were notified by the Williams Police Department that there was a small gas leak on a property OFF campus, but in close vicinity to our WUSD #2 bus barn. We were told the school was not at risk, but to be on alert in case the situation changed. We immediately put into place our Emergency Operations Plan with the administration team. There was no disruption to the school day, and we were given the okay to continue business as usual on campus. The situation was cleared by fire, gas and Williams PD just a short time after we were notified. Special thanks to our fire department, police, gas company and the team at WEMS for making sure our school and community were safe!

Dear Parents and Students, W.U.S.D. Transportation Department is still experiencing a bus driver shortage. Due to this issue all bus routes will be delayed today approximately 10 to 15 minutes. If your student lives near or around the golf course, please make arrangements to pick up your child, at school. Bus routes should be back to normal tomorrow. Sorry for any inconveniences.

Parents and Students, We want to inform you of a temporary change due to a shortage of bus drivers. From Monday, September 23rd through Tuesday, October 1st, there will be no morning driver for Route 2. As a result, the original pick-up times will be delayed by approximately 30 minutes. We kindly ask that all students be at their bus stops and ready to board by 7:40 a.m. To help things run smoothly, please ensure you arrive a few minutes early, as the driver will not be able to wait for late arrivals. The first bus, will stop at 9th Street and Oak, then travel along Grant Street and Route 66. The second bus will pick up students along Sheridan and up 6th Street. The third bus will travel to the golf course area and around to Morse Steet. These stops may be closer to 8:00 a.m. If you prefer to drive your child to school during this period, please contact the office at (928) 635-4473 to let us know. Normal Route 2 service will resume on October 2nd. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

Here are some photos of our FFA students at the fair this year. Between Richard Gonzalez, Laynie Johnson, and Kadence Ironside they made $28,153 at auction. Julia Dyer who graduated this past year but participated in FFA here, made $26k on her steer. Richard won reserve champion in poultry, Julia got reserve champion market steer, and Kadence won senior barrel racing and pole bending giving her senior highpoint in gymkhana. Daniel Rigo (WHS student in Ag Sci but showing for 4H) won novice reserve champion showman in steer. They all did great, worked hard, and made me proud to be the Williams FFA advisor:) - Ms. Ironside: Ag. Science teacher and FFA advisor.

We would like to thank the Williams Public Library for collaborating with the High School library to support our students. The director, Mrs. Sanders assisted students with signing up for free public library cards, giving students access to not only physical materials at the library, but also thousands of on-line material via the Libby app. Students were informed about free services offered at the library. Such as career prep, scholarship assistance, study group opportunity, and so much more! For additional information on services offered, please feel free to stop by the Williams public library or call 928-635-2263.
